Sam and Sophie’s wedding day is one I wish could happen every weekend. These two are a match made in heaven, and getting to witness their love for one another was truly a gift. They had their classic and timeless wedding at the Science Museum of Virginia, complete with portraits at the VMFA just down the street.

One of my favorite parts of Sam and Sophie’s day was their ceremony in the main lobby of the Science Museum. With its tall ceilings topped with windows, beautiful floral statements, and 200 guests – it felt perfectly grand and intimate at the same time. Sophie and Sam captured everyone’s attention with their beauty and love for one another.

I love how much Sam and Sophie valued portraits on their wedding day. My little photographer heart skipped a beat when we built their timeline to include a second location for family formals, wedding party, and bride and groom portraits. They got so much variety in over 300 bride and groom portraits alone. A note to other brides? Let your photographer in on the timeline planning — they’re the expert.

Sam and Sophie shifted their timeline to include more reception time than details/getting ready. They knew they would value those photos celebrating with their friends and family over a photo of their invitation. I love that they made decisions that were important to them. Their reception was full of joy and celebration. They danced the night away with their friends and family, threw streamers in honor of JMU, and even had Gelati Celesti ready to serve all of their guests. The perfect reception? I think so!

This day is one I miss already, but I’m so grateful to have been a part of it. Thank you Sam and Sophie for including me in this day and in this season of celebration. Wishing you a lifetime of love and joy — the best is yet to come! Cheers to the Maymans!!
